Caledonia Moon!

We have built a guitar from the Inaugural Cask of 'Caledonia' whisky – inspired by Dougie MacLean's classic song - and produced by Edradour Distillery in Perthshire. The single malt whisky was selected by Dougie from an Oloroso cask from 1997. The Spanish Oak staves from the cask were used for the back, sides and neck – and the soundboard was cut from a driftwood log of Scots Pine washed up on the shores of Fair Isle donated by local fiddle maker Ewen Thomson.

The guitar is to be shwcased on Saturday 7th November at Pitlochry Festival Theatre as part of Dougie's Perthshire Amber Festival and also at The Caledonia Concert in Perth Concert Hall on Sunday 8th November. 'All the elements that have been brought together to produce this instrument make it a truly unique and very special guitar' said Jimmy. 'We have decided to donate it to Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy to be auctioned at this year's Tartan Clef Awards. I am hopeful that it will raise a large sum of money for a very worthy cause.' Another of our Scottish artists Paolo Nutini has also recorded McLean's song 'Caledonia' for North Sound and Moray Firth Radio to raise money for 'Cash For Kids' – so in this year of Homecoming Scotland – Caledonia is certainly working hard on behalf of Scotland's good causes!
