Dougie MacLean worked very closely with us on the design of this guitar to get an instrument that suited his needs specifically. He frequently uses an open C tuning and the combination of the timbers selected gives an added strength to the low C note. He chose Black Acacia (Australian Blackwood) for it’s clear characteristics and striking figure, with Master Grade Alaskan Sitka Spruce for the soundboard. The guitar features a favourite ‘Pictish’ symbol designed by Orkney jewellers Ortak inlaid in silver on the headstock and in Mother of Pearl on the bridge wings. Dougie has also signed the specially designed inner label.
